Introducing the Aurora Crochet Floor Rug Pattern – a charming blend of functionality and artistry, perfect for elevating any cosy reading nook or craft room with its delightful sunburst design and rich texture.
Spoil yourself by crocheting your very own stunning accent floor rug that will make you smile and ‘elevate your floor’!
This beautiful crochet floor rug design features a star-like centre surrounded by a circular halo. The sun-like section compliments the wide border that is created with loads of textured puff stitches.
Are you tired of crocheting beanies and scarves?
Have you had enough of crocheting projects for other people?
Crocheting a floor rug for yourself can be an incredibly rewarding project, providing both aesthetic and practical benefits. Unlike a beanie or a blanket, a handmade rug can transform the look of an entire room, adding a unique touch to your home decor that reflects your personal style.
The tactile nature of a crocheted rug also makes it a cosy and comforting addition to your living space, perfect for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Additionally, making a rug allows you to experiment with various textures, patterns, and colours on a larger scale, offering a more creative and satisfying challenge compared to smaller projects.
By crocheting a rug, you’re investing time and effort into something that you will see and use daily, giving you a sense of accomplishment and personal connection to your living environment.

This rug can be crocheted using just about any yarn and any fibre.
Whenever substituting the yarn, aim for the number of strands that will result in a thickness equivalent to a Bulky / Chunky / Craft / Rug / 12 ply.
For example:
1 strand of Bulky / Chunky / Craft / Rug / 12 ply, or
2 strands of Worsted / Afghan / Aran / 10 ply, or
3 strands of DK / Light Worsted / 8 ply.
I use a 7 mm hook for all yarn substitutions. Change your hook size as needed to obtain gauge.
If you want to substitute the cord for yarn, please see the list of 20+ Yarn Substitutions.
Substituting the cord for yarn for a crochet rug is a practical and often cost-effective decision, but there are several important factors to consider. While yarn is typically more budget-friendly than specialty cords, ensuring the durability and strength of the finished project is crucial.
Yarn offers a wider variety of textures, colours, and thicknesses, which can enhance the aesthetic appeal of your rug. However, it’s essential to select a yarn that matches your needs.
