About Me

My crochet journey

My crochet journey began back 14 years ago when I wanted to crochet a shawl for my daughter. I put aside the endless scrap-booking supplies – yes, it was that era – and learnt how to crochet. Crochet became part of everyday life after that. It was easy to pick up and put down in a time of busy-ness with 6 young kids. It became my ‘thing’ and led to me teaching a number of my friends how to crochet, even the ones that thought they were unteachable!

I started designing patterns for blankets, bags and home decor. This led me to designing a floor rug as a birthday present for a friend. I wanted something beautiful, yet practical. This floor rug gave me the inspiration to design more floor rugs and Floornament was born!

I believe the desire to create is something that is in all of us and crochet is just one way to express this creativity. I feel so blessed to be able to use this creativity to design beautiful crochet floor rugs that you can make and use to decorate your home.

My Mission

As a crochet pattern designer my main aim is to design patterns that are understandable and achievable for intermediate crocheters.

I understand that every crochet designer writes their patterns differently which can make it tricky to interpret some patterns. So my aim is for you to be able to complete all floornament patterns easily. I have included a Notes section in every pattern to help you interpret and understand my patterns. I have kept all pattern formatting to a very simple style without any fluff to make it easier for you to track your progress.

In order to help you complete your floornament correctly, I have included stitch counts and photos of every round so that you can easily check your work as you go.

I want you to enjoy the process of making a floornament! If however, you are having trouble and need some help, please send me a message through social media messaging or send me an email.

A little more about me...

What do I do when I’m not crocheting? I’m glad you asked!

I am married to the love of my life and have six wonderful kids! They keep me pretty busy! Two of my kids are married and 4 are still living at home. Of the four at home, the two youngest are still homeschooling, the other two are working and studying.

I love to garden and do the occasional craft. Living in Australia gives me plenty of opportunities to go camping with family and friends, go to markets, wine tasting, or just hang out with the people I love.
